Protect Against Fatty Liver Disease, Strengthen Hepatitis Defense

July 1, 2023

Introduction

Viral hepatitis is a well-known disease for liver health worldwide, but do you know that fatty liver disease has become the commonest liver disease in Malaysia,1 and 60% of Malaysians are at risk of dying due to fatty liver?2

Fatty liver is the build-up of fat around the liver, giving it a fatty appearance. It is just like how the fat accumulates around our belly when we gain weight, but the fatty liver is way more concerning as it is the fat surrounding our organ! The extra fat around the liver can impair liver function and cause irreversible damage if left untreated.

What’s more, you need to know that people with fatty livers may have a higher risk of contracting hepatitis due to excess fats stored in the liver cell, providing less protection from healthy liver cells.3 Therefore in conjunction with World Hepatitis Day, apart from vaccination to protect against hepatitis, we can strengthen our defense by protecting against fatty liver!

Ways to Protect Against Fatty Liver

As fatty liver is caused by the accumulation of fat, we can protect against fatty liver by taking care of our diet and lifestyle. Here are some ways we can practice in our daily life for a healthier liver!

Maintains a healthy body weight
Weight gain is linked to excess fat build-up in the liver. A study has also shown that losing 7 – 10% of body weight can reduce liver fat and inflammation among the overweight population.4 You can maintain a healthy body weight by eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly.

Adopts a healthy & balanced diet
A healthy balanced diet in your daily meal should comprise of a quarter of carbohydrates, a quarter of protein and half of fruit and vegetables on your plate. You should also limit the intake of high saturated fat food and high sugar food such as fried food, fatty meats, and confectionery that have excess calories and cause more fat to build up in the liver.

Reduces alcohol intake
Drinking large amounts of alcohol, even just for a few days, can cause fat to build up in the liver and harm the liver.5 Try to reduce alcohol consumption and heavy alcohol use or drink in moderation.

Take a supplement that can protect and repair the liver
The essential phospholipid (phosphatidylcholine) is the building block of the liver and vital for the functioning of the liver. Supplement with phosphatidylcholine can help to repair damaged cells and regenerate new healthy liver cells.6 Vitamin B and Vitamin E can also protect the liver by aiding fat metabolism to prevent fat accumulation and fighting against free radical damage.

Livolin Forte is a triple-action formula containing essential phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine) to repair damaged liver cells, vitamin B to prevent fat accumulation in the liver, and vitamin E from protecting the liver from damage. With this triple-action formula, you can protect yourself from fatty liver and improve your liver function.
