Q: Are pregnant women with COVID-19 at higher risk for miscarriage?
According to CDC, there is no evidence to suggest an increased risk of miscarriage.
Q: Can pregnant women with COVID-19 pass the virus to their foetus or newborn babies?
According to Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, it is unclear if the virus can pass to your developing baby while you are pregnant.
And CDC mentioned that virus was not detected in samples of amniotic fluid or breastmilk as well. However, the evidence is limited as of now.
Q: Is there a risk that COVID-19 in a pregnant woman or newborn baby could have long-term effects on baby health and development?
Currently, there is no information on long-term health effects on infants, as according to CDC.
Q: Is infected with COVID-19 during lactation increase potential risk to a breastfeeding infant?
According to CDC, no evidence of virus has been found in the breast milk of women with COVID-19. The disease spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth when the person is coughing or sneezing.
