Liver is the largest internal organ in our body. Few of us ever give any thought to our liver. However, this resilient and hard-working organ is a critical factor in our health. Impressively, liver can perform as many as 500 different biological functions! One of its main function is to act as a filter and processor for various substances formed internally and externally. For instance, liver helps to process the food that we eat into energy and nutrients. Besides, it removes harmful substances from the blood. The other functions include regulate cholesterol, manufacture bile, store utilized fats and sugar.

In such case of overindulging during the festive season, our liver is subjected and overloaded with damaging effects from excessive intake of high-fat food, highly processed foods, alcohol and sugary drinks. These factors might interfere with the liver enzymes production and causing oxidative damage. The symptoms of an overburdened liver are bloating, constipation, fatigue, and hormonal imbalances. Hence, it is very important for us to take good care of our liver by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
