Probiotic Support for Women’s Urinary Tract

Apr 25, 2018

Being a woman is not easy. Due to their unique anatomy, they are fated to get pregnant, to give birth, to experience menopause, and also prone to get certain urogenital issue such as urinary tract infections (UTIs). According to experts, 1 in 2 women will suffer from UTIs within their lifetime1. This is because, apart from being nearer to the vagina and anus (where the microbes are abundant), the urethra of women is shorter than men, allowing faster bacterial spread to the urinary tract.

Pathogenesis of UTIs

Understanding the pathogenesis of UTI is the key to prevent and treat this urogenital problem.

Naturally, healthy vagina with pH 4.5 is inhabited with Lactobacilli spp. These beneficial bacteria produce lactic acid to maintain the acidic environment of the vagina thus discourage the growth of harmful pathogenic bacteria. Based on the above figure and description, we understand that UTIs begin with the contamination of uropathogenic bacteria. The contamination may arise from dysbiosis (microbial imbalance) which might occur due to antibiotic treatment, feminine wash usage, or any other factors which might kill all the bacteria population or alter the pH in the vagina.

Signs and Symptoms of UTIs

UTIs do not always show signs and symptoms. Occasionally, the symptoms may include:

Prevention and Treatment of UTIs

To prevent and treat this urogenital condition, every woman shall replenish their precious intimate part with Lactobacilli spp to guard the periurethral area, so that the uropathogenic bacteria has no chance to invade and further dominating the urogenital tract. BiO-LiFE Proutix offers 5 billion CFU of two Lactobacilli spp strains – Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14 which have been clinically proven for their ability to prevent and treat urogenital problems.

When administered orally, these friendly strains will survive the demanding condition of stomach acid and subsequently, they will migrate from the gastrointestinal tract to the rectal skin, and finally to the urogenital tract – the site whereby they become biologically active against their target. This product is suitable to prevent, treat, and reduce the recurrences of bacterial vaginosis, yeast vaginitis, and UTIs especially in women3. Henceforth, BiO-LiFE Proutix is every women’s BFF!
